Biography Brenda Bates is the writer of mediations, inspirations, prayers, poems, and meditative thoughts based on Bible scripture.

Brenda Bates lives in Colorful Colorado with her husband Don. Although neither Don nor Brenda are natives of Colorado they have lived there most of their lives.

Brenda attended Arvada High School and later graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Don attended Hinkley High School and graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and continued to Webster University where he was awarded a Master's degree in Information Resource Management.

They were married at Diamond Head Beach Park, Honolulu Hawaii on the Island of Oahu, also known as "The Gathering Place."

They honeymooned on the Island of Maui. During their stay in Maui, at a beachfront hotel, they enjoyed morning coffee on their personal lanai. They had a perfect view of the whales playing in the ocean. They marveled at the daily rainbows, sailed on the beautiful ocean, played on the perfectly manicured golf courses, visited native plantations, and flew over the island in a helicopter to see all they could see from a bird's eye view. They both agreed it was the perfect beginning for their lifelong journey.

They have four children and five grandchildren (number six scheduled to arrive in October) and are more than happy to share stories about each one of them with much pride and in great detail.

Both Don and Brenda are active in the Upper Room ministries titled, Walk to Emmaus (currently are on the Board of Directors holding the Communications Chair), Chrysalis Flights, and they both work with Kairos Prison Ministry that enables them to visit those behind prison walls and speak to them about God's grace and forgiveness. Their mission is to help those in doubt focus on the existence of God, the gift of forgiveness through His son Jesus Christ, and works through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Don's passion is baseball. He loves the game and enjoys the time spent with his buddies playing on a senior men's league. In 2002 they actually won the World Series Championship in Arizona! He has the shirt, hat, jacket, and ring that he wears with pride to prove it.

Brenda's passion is sharing God’s message through prayers, poems, inspirations, meditations, devotions, and reflections. She admits that most of her writings are inspired while weeding, watering, and waiting for His miracles in her personal garden sanctuary. She delights in the colors of the seasons and with each stepping-stone in her garden you will find a verse from the Bible that helps her stay focused even while gardening.

Brenda has written numerous writings that have been published on Angels & Inspirations, a website dedicated to a daily Morning Spirit Lift, Learning the Word, and Shay & TheChurchMouse. Her inspirations have been used (with permission) on several other personal web sites, church newsletters & bulletins, sermon messages, and printed for senior centers in the United States and abroad. Her personal witness of "The Miracle Behind Prison Walls" has been published in prison newspapers, Northern Colorado Emmaus Community’s newsletter titled, “Northern Lights,” various church newsletters, family shared articles with inmates and prison staff.
