Alleluia! We have been waiting for 364 days for
this day. All the packages are strategically wrapped and placed
under the tree. The guests will arrive soon; the turkey and ham are
in the oven.
We ask ourselves, “Why all the fuss for one day
of the year?” The answer is simple.
HE HAS COME!
God gave us a precious Gift when He sent Jesus.
He gave us the gift of Hope, Love, Peace, and Joy. He gave us His
Gift and now it's up to each one of us to receive it! God wrapped
His Gift in the most unusual wrapping, that of a baby. The Gift
wasn’t wrapped in extraordinary paper with an exceptional bow; the
Gift was wrapped in humility, gentleness and kindness. The Gift
wasn’t sitting in the place of honor under the tree; it was tucked
way in the back where one would have to search for it or be led to
it. The Gift didn’t have a nametag on it; it was there for all to
open; for all to receive.
We don’t think twice about receiving gifts from
family, friends, and co-workers but we hesitate when we know there
are conditions that come with this Gift. How do we accept a Gift
from GOD?
We must open this Gift with a humbly heart – a
sinners heart – a repentant heart. This Gift is not meant for the
perfect, faultless, or sinless. It is meant for those of us who
admit our flaws, imperfections, and our need for a Savior. We must
accept this Gift by cleaning out the clutter, doubts, and
reservations within. We need to make room for Him. Once there is
room, without a doubt He will take up residence and He will fill us
with Himself.
How to we accept a Gift from GOD? Easy, we
accept graciously, gratefully and faithfully. He gives and gives and
all we need to do is accept and appreciate all the Gift has to
provide.
Merry Christmas, Don & Brenda Bates
